In order to seek greater opportunities for Chilean fruits within China, especially in view of the start of the new 2023-2024 export season, Frutas de Chile visited the Xin Hua Nan Wholesale Market in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, located in central China.
The national delegation was headed by Iván Marambio, president of ASOEX; Claudia Soler, executive director of the Cherry Committee; Ignacio Caballero, marketing director of ASOEX and Charif Christian Carvajal, marketing director of Asoex for the Asian and European markets.

In this regard, Ivan Marambio highlighted: “We visited the Wuhan wholesale market, which is located in the Hubei province in central China, as it is a market that has seen a growing demand for Chilean fruit. In this context, a meeting was organized with local distributors and market authorities in order to evaluate and prospect the opportunities and challenges for exports in our sector. Wuhan has more than 19 million inhabitants, and is also a strategic connection point with the interior of China and the main consumer centers.”
It is important to mention that within the framework of the activities in Wuhan, the president of ASOEX met with Ren Jian, vice president of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) in order to advance future joint work.

“We established contact with the CCPIT several months ago, initially with its offices in Chile, and then in the cities of Beijing, Shanghai and today Wuhan, because we believe that we can coordinate joint work for the benefit of fruit exports and imports from both countries, but also in relation to the exchange of visions and knowledge.”, Marambio added.
It is worth noting that the CCPIT is a government agency that performs functions such as: implementing major national and provincial development strategies, promoting foreign trade, bilateral investment, and economic and technological cooperation, as well as carrying out cooperation with overseas trade promotion counterparts, receiving high-level foreign trade and economic delegations, and organizing Hubei trade and economic delegations to visit foreign countries, among others.
