Successful first session of Smartcherry Open 2022

The event was hosted by Carlos Tapia, a specialist advisor in cherry production, and Walter Masman, a technical advisor and consultant, as a guest. The event attracted more than 400 people connected live between Zoom and our Facebook fan page.

A great day was experienced this Wednesday, July 20, at the first session of Smartcherry Open 2022. The session was led by Carlos Tapia, advisor and Technical Director of Avium, who spoke with Walter Masman, technical advisor and consultant, specialist in stone fruit and cherry production. The challenge that the early celebration of the Chinese New Year represents for the sector, the dormant season, the load regulation strategy, the experience of new varieties, as well as the accumulation of cold hours were some of the topics that marked the conversation, which had nearly 400 viewers online.

The event was held in a television studio set up for the occasion in Curicó.

«It was truly a pleasure to meet again at this second session of Smartcherry Open; the conversation with Walter, a tremendous advisor and consultant, was a great contribution to the industry, because today more than ever, facing a cherry season full of challenges, it is necessary to expand the information we have, which we are obtaining through the different investigations we carry out and, of course, from the experience in the field», Tapia highlighted after the event.

Masman, for his part, thanked the invitation and highlighted certain relevant facts: «It is always a pleasure to be able to share experiences with Carlos, with a friend, particularly talking about the difficulties of this season, the challenges that it imposes on us due to everything that has happened these last two years and that forces us to do things well, very well, as it should be. It is important to comment on the visualizations that one sees at the start of this season and what are the ways to be able to achieve the product that we need and meet the demands that the market demands of us today.»

The event saw more than 400 participants show great participation via Zoom and Facebook, sending questions and transmitting their doubts about the cherry season to the experts, which were answered during the session.

"We are happy with the great turnout we had, with the interaction of those who were connected and who sent us their congratulations and comments through social networks." We leave you now Guests for the next session in August», concluded the Technical Director of Avium.

The next technical discussion will be on August 4 at 6:00 p.m., and will feature Valeria Lepe, Agricultural Engineer, advisor and consultant specializing in nutrition in fruit species. The second session will be titled "How to improve the efficiency of the nutritional strategy in cherry orchards" and the event will once again be broadcast online.
