The ship Cautín (CAU), belonging to the Hapag-Lloyd, Hamburg shipping company, will depart from the Pacific South Terminal in Valparaíso (TPS). Although this is the second shipment of cherries of the season, as the first one left last Tuesday from the port of San Antonio, this ship will be the first to arrive in China, as it is a Cherry Express service.
The Cautín arrived at the port of Valparaíso on Thursday morning to begin its loading process. It is expected to set sail for Asia on Friday, November 17 at around 4:00 p.m., initially arriving in Hong Kong on December 10.
Last season the “Seaspan Brightness” was the first ship to arrive in Hong Kong on December 8 with approximately 143 containers of cherries, equivalent to 2,580 tons, including Royal Dawn (48%), Santina (38%), Glen Red (4%), and Frisco (2%) varieties. From there, the fruit was transported to the wholesale markets of Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Jiaxing.
