Delivery of fertilizers to non-INDAP farmers begins in the Maule region

The Seremi of Agriculture, Ana Muñoz, together with the mayor of Maule, Luis Vásquez, led the delivery of bags of fertilizers to 51 Non-INDAP farmers in the commune. This is a total aid of 357 bags of urea of 25 kg each, valued at $9,452,646.

The Seremi of Agriculture explained that this aid corresponds to the “Siembra por Chile” plan that the Ministry of Agriculture is implementing as part of the economic reactivation measures, in this case to alleviate the global rise in the price of agrochemicals. With this action, the process of delivering fertilizers to non-INDAP farmers in all the municipalities of the Maule region began.

“The increase in fertilizer prices has been 200% and that is why we are here today, to deliver more than 300 bags of fertilizer to 51 farmers who do not belong to INDAP. The government is taking charge of this segment of farmers who are not users of INDAP or Prodesal, and as the mayor has said, he has been very concerned and that is why we have wanted to begin our deliveries in the region starting in this commune of Maule. We have signed agreements with the municipalities that allow us to reach the most remote farmers, those who were not served, and that makes us very happy,” said Regional Minister Ana Muñoz.

In turn, Mayor Luis Vásquez highlighted the support that the ministry is providing to these farmers who are not served by INDAP: “I am very happy to be with the authorities, with our regional minister who has come to start these deliveries in our commune with farmers who are not involved in any state system. It is an extra help to start supporting these farmers. This is an agricultural commune and we need help to encourage them to continue with the desire to work the land, so that young people come, so that they get ahead, because this commune delivers crops for the region and for the whole country, and we are very important in that aspect.”

Farmer Luis Eduardo Varela works in vegetables and says that this is the first time he has received aid: “Happy, because thank God we received a small grain of sand to help us with the costs, because right now, with the level of fertilizers…if before we spent, for example, 500, today we are spending almost a million and a half on production…so very grateful.”

In total, more than 9,688 bags will be delivered in Maule to benefit 1,384 farmers from the 30 communes who are not INDAP users.
