In week 43, the Brooks variety harvest began at Agroindustrial Valle Arriba, in Ovalle. We spoke with its Production Manager, Jorge Astudillo, who talked about the delay in the start of the season and the shipment of the first crops to China.
The cherry harvest began a few days late compared to last season in the northernmost area of the country where this fruit species is produced: Ovalle. As usual, the variety that opened the season was Brooks, followed by Tulares.
Agroindustrial Valle Arriba is one of the most important cherry producers in the area and the first each year to start the cherry harvest in Chile.
While in Sagrada Familia, Maule region, and other early areas they are preparing to begin the harvest, in Agroindustrial Valle Arriba they will continue with the work of collecting the first export fruit that will arrive at its destination by air within the next few days.
Congratulations from the Production Manager of Agroindustrial Valle Arriba, an orchard that represents an important part of the more than 300 hectares planted with cherry trees in the Ovalle area.
