Anagra, together with its shareholder Mitsui Co, held a successful series of talks focused on biostimulation and the correct application of algae in agriculture. The main speaker was Dr. Jeffrey Norrie, a globally recognized specialist in solutions based on seaweed extracts.
Pamela Mordojovich, Anagra's marketing manager, highlighted the importance of this tour: "Jeffrey is an advisor to Anagra and the Mitsui group, and was part of the technical advisory team for our Algarium product, a 100% Ascophyllum biostimulant brought directly from Ireland and with a pH of 4.2 thanks to its cold extraction. We began this tour with a talk in Osorno, together with the Agronomy course at the University of Los Lagos, for more than 60 people. Then we went to Los Angeles, where we had a very interesting meeting with farmers in the area, and finally we went to Curicó, where we talked about the use of Algarium in cherry trees and other crops. However, our last major milestone is a meeting between Jeffrey and the entire Anagra technical team, where Jeffrey will witness presentations by the team with national experiences in the use of Algarium and other products from our HVC line, in order to later obtain their feedback and discuss the results in national cultivation.
Luis Hernán Cruz, General Manager of Anagra Chile, highlighted the importance of Jeffrey Norrie's presence on this tour: "It is very important for us to have Jeffrey as an advisor, a person who has many years of experience in the development of solutions based on seaweed extracts. I would say that he is one of the most renowned people in this area at a global level in this type of products. It is very important to establish a more direct contact with the experience that farmers in Chile may have and to establish ways to raise the level of knowledge regarding the effects that these types of solutions can have, applied at the right time."
Dr. Jeffrey Norrie was excited about the opportunity to work in Chile again, saying, “I’m delighted to be working here, as our agriculture is very similar to that in Chile. As for Ascophyllum, it’s an algae from which we can extract the ingredients and cellular contents and put them into a liquid form, so that we can apply them in different agricultural programs and in different crops. It’s a very soluble product, which can help protect the plant as well as contribute to budding and flowering, fruit setting and filling.”
On the other hand, Paula Ospina, technical leader of the HVC by Anagra specialty line, spoke about microorganisms and soil.
«At Anagra, since we started with the HVC by Anagra specialty line, and based on my experience as a microbiologist, we have focused on enhancing the care and well-being of the soil through microorganisms and their use for agriculture. We incorporate microbiological consortia and beneficial microorganisms into our product range that recreate the soil's capabilities and generate a beneficial relationship with the plant. Today we can see the results of experiences where, in addition to healthier and more nourished soil, we have more productive and profitable crops.»
This series of talks not only sought to transmit knowledge, but also to strengthen ties between experts and Chilean farmers, thus promoting the use of biostimulants in national crops.
