Chile has exported 412,308 tons of cherries during the current season (up to week 6), equivalent to 82,461,636 5-kilo boxes. During the previous season, up to the same date, our country had sent 83,041,352 (415,207).
Of the total for the 2023-2024 season, Maule and O'Higgins represent 82 percent, with 188,830 and 149,662 tons, respectively. Regarding the varieties, Lapins led shipments, followed by Santina, Regina, Bing and Sweet Heart.
Main Destinations
According to data from Frutas de Chile, up to week 6, the main destination for Chilean cherries continued to be China with 387,162 tons of cherries, representing 93.9 percent of the total. This is followed by North America with 14,222, Latin America with 7,224, Europe with 3,591 and the Middle East with 109 tons of cherries.
As for the means of transport, 384,906 were sent by sea, 22,012 by air and 5,390 by land.
