The event will bring together the entire Argentine cherry industry and will feature exhibitors and attendees from Chile.
On August 28 and 29, Neuquén will host the most important event in the trans-Andean cherry industry; Cherry Day, an event organized by the Argentine Chamber of Integrated Cherry Producers – CAPCI, which will feature various interesting technical-commercial talks, as well as a day in the countryside.
The opening of the event, which will take place at Olivia Catering & Eventos in the city of Neuquén, will be led by Alejandro Zimmermann, president of CAPCI, who will give way to the first of the presentations entitled: “Cherries conquer the northern markets”, by Betina Ernst, President of Top Info SA, Argentina.
The meeting, which will bring together producers, exporters and agricultural service and product companies, also includes technical talks, which will be presented by Argentine advisors Juan Pujó and Tomás Lochbaum, and Chileans Jordi Casas and Valeria Lepe. In turn, Gert Eastes, from Cherry Ridge South Africa, will speak about cherry production in the African country.
Cherry Day 2024 will also offer a commercial perspective, with talks such as: “Electronic cherries, a device to detect points capable of generating pitting in packing plants”, by Santiago Arhancet, head of the INTA AER Los Antiguos agency, and Fernando Manavella, extension advisor of the same entity. Meanwhile, the talk “Tasmania Cherries, why are they better?” will be given by Peter Cornish, executive director of Fruit Grower Tasmania – Australia.
All of the above will take place during the day on August 28, which will end with a panel discussion called “The role of CAPCI; present and future of the Argentine cherry sector”; said block will be moderated by Mariano Tappata, general manager of PAI SA, and will feature the following panelists: Diego Aguilar, president of the Chamber of Cherries of Mendoza; Viviana Bircher, vice president of the Chamber of Cherry Producers of the Lower Valley of the Chubut River; Hernán De Bellis, COO of Extraberries SA; Jorge Seguel, President of the El Oasis Ltda. Agrofutícola Cooperative; and Juan Carlos Schroeder, president of PINCÉN SA and CEO of the Schroeder Group.
The event on August 29 includes a field trip, an activity that will culminate at noon in Cherry Day 2024, an event in which attendees will be able to learn about the latest techniques and developments in cherry production, connect with producers, investors and other professionals in the sector, and learn about the know-how and experience acquired in managing cherry crops in Northern Patagonia.
