In order to promote the construction of the Chile-Dalian fruit import corridor, which will allow a more expeditious flow of fresh Chilean fruit, especially in northwest China and Asia, the Association of Fruit Exporters of Chile AG (Asoex) signed an agreement (MoU, its acronym in English), with the Dalian Municipal Bureau of Commerce of China.

The signing took place during a visit by representatives of the Dalian Municipal Bureau of Commerce to the offices of Asoex, and was signed by the president of the entity, Iván Marambio, and the director of the Dalian Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Li Hanguo. Also present were the executive director of the Asoex Cherry Committee, Claudia Soler, as well as authorities from the Department of Commerce of the Liao Ning Province, and from Dalian Yidu Group Co., Ltd.
“We believe that this agreement is very positive, as it allows us to advance in a better reception and distribution of our fresh fruits in the northwest and north of China, and therefore, it allows us to diversify the destinations within the Chinese market. Likewise, in this agreement, both parties commit to promote mutual cooperation, as well as to provide timely and effective support in relation to this cooperation. In this way, this agreement will favor the increase of the market share of Chilean cherries and other fresh fruits in the markets of the north and northwest of China,” said Ivan Marambio, president of Asoex.
Marambio added that this MoU will enhance support so that Chilean fruit exports, especially cherries, arrive on time and in the expected condition to China, but also to countries such as Japan, South Korea and other regions in northwest Asia. This will be done through the joint operation mode of “container + bulk + international transshipment.” Likewise, the construction of a distribution center for Chilean cherries in northwest Asia will be promoted.
