AgroFresh completes acquisition of Tessara, expanding its portfolio of post-harvest solutions

The acquisition marks the expansion of AgroFresh’s pioneering solutions for table grapes and blueberries.

AgroFresh Solutions Inc., a global leader in AgTech innovation specializing in post-harvest solutions to extend the quality of fresh produce, announces that the acquisition of Tessara has been completed. Headquartered in South Africa, Tessara is an industry-leading provider of intelligent packaging solutions, specializing in SO2-generating films.2, to prevent diseases affecting table grapes, blueberries and flowers. The acquisition of Tessara is an exciting new chapter for AgroFresh, as it allows them to advance their mission to reduce food loss and waste across the entire produce supply chain by providing an extensive range of scientifically proven solutions, digital technologies and services for a wide range of crops. The transaction has been completed following clearance from the South African competition authorities.

The acquisition of Tessara complements AgroFresh’s post-harvest capabilities to help maintain fruit freshness and reduce food waste by adding solutions for key crops such as table grapes and blueberries, thereby significantly enhancing its presence across all fruit-producing regions, including South Africa, China, Australia and South America.
