We know that the cherry sector is a market where the quality of our fruits will be a determining factor. For this reason and with the need for constant innovation to produce healthy and sustainable food, from Syngenta we promote Prize, a specialty nutritional corrector, aimed at strengthening and providing better elasticity to the wall of cherries, avoiding losses due to fruit splitting, thus improving the overall quality of the crop.
Premio is a plant-based anti-cracking product that benefits exportable fruit by reducing fruit cracking. Premio, being specially formulated for field applications, does not cause stains on the fruit, and is compatible with formulations of products used in post-harvest. In addition, Prize It does not affect beneficial insects and is compatible with integrated pest management.

Premio is a nutritional specialty, characterized by a unique combination of mineral macronutrients and specific long-chain fatty alcohols of plant origin, designed to reduce the incidence of cracking at the fruit level.
To prevent cracking, Prize It acts by generating a water-repellent waxy layer on the fruit, which prevents the direct entry of water from the cuticle. It also strengthens the cell membrane, preventing cracking near the pedicel and on the side, improving the flexibility and osmotic balance of the fruit.

This nutritional corrector is applied foliarly. The recommended dose is 200 ml/hl, using between 700 and 1,000 liters of water per hectare. The time of application is from fruit set, repeating between 2 to 4 applications every 7-15 days until the color changes in pre-harvest.
Time of use:

Premio is a product formulated in Italy, where it has scientific studies that validate its results. In our country, during 2018 and 2022, different experiences of use have been obtained, obtaining a decrease in cracking in cherry trees, especially in precipitation conditions during the development of the crop.
This last season, Avium analyzed the use of Premio in cherry trees. This study identified differences in the Santina variety, in the Maule area (Table 1). Finding differences in the induced splitting test, in the evaluation carried out after 2 hours of immersion in laboratory analysis, obtaining significant differences versus the control.

This way, Prize is a flexible and sustainable solution, with high technology aimed at improving your cherries. Its specific objectives, such as reducing cracking and its nutritional attributes, promote crop yield and quality for cherry export.
