These are the first images of fruit set in the Tabalí orchard, located in Ovalle; it is the Brooks variety, which this season presents slightly more advanced phenological states compared to the same date last year.
"Considering that we were almost a week late with the applications of cyanamide, compared to usual, we are having a date two, three days earlier than last season in this phenological state," said Jorge Astudillo, Production Manager of Agroindustrial Valle Arriba.
The 2022-23 season began harvesting during week 43, one week later than in the previous campaign; although, according to the phenological states, this year the harvest could start in week 42, nothing is certain.
"The weather is very decisive, while it was raining in the south, here we had temperatures of 20 degrees, coinciding with the rainy season that occurred from the Metropolitan region to the south," added Jorge Astudillo.
Agroindustrial Valle Arriba owns 15 hectares of the Brooks variety, three of which are in full production (average of 10 tons/ha) and 12 hectares in formation with averages of 3,000 to 5,000 kg/ha. During the 2022-23 campaign, they exported 60,000 tons of this variety.
