The Agricultural Water Summit is positioned as one of the pioneering and unmissable events of this year, which will bring together key players in the agricultural industry and world-class experts to analyze the national water situation and provide solutions, innovation and technology for the management and preservation of water in agriculture.

On August 4, 2022, the first edition of the Agricultural Water Summit (AWS), organized by Yentzen Group, will be held at the Sun Monticello Hotel Conference Center, located in San Francisco de Mostazal, Chile.

During the morning coffee break and lunch, three exclusive talks will be offered by the companies: Aquadetect, Aqua4D and Eficagua. One of the talks at the event will be led by Daniel Cabrera, sales manager of Aquadetect, a company with more than 40 years of experience in the exploration and exploitation of natural resources.

“The talk will focus on how to optimize the supply of available groundwater on farms. This is done with hydrological studies on agricultural land to find out how much groundwater there is on a piece of land, what is the best and most optimal way to access it and how much groundwater flow there is on a piece of land.”, Cabrera stressed.

The important thing to be able to make good estimates, to know how much water a field has, is to know the hydrological context of the agricultural land. Additional information is very important, for example, when there are wells, to collect hydrological information. These studies are useful as long as the hydrological context of the agricultural land can be understood.”

Later, in the same format, Felipe Villarino, general manager of Aqua4D, will speak about “Water efficiency and sustainable production through innovation and technology.”

“We are going to talk about sustainable development through water efficiency using Swiss technology called Aqua4D. We will learn how it works, the cases we have worldwide, and we will specify what we are doing in Chile.”

“With technology we are helping producers to generate an average efficiency of between 25%, 30% of water. We also help them with salt management, for example problems with chloride in the water or in the soil. We manage salts by using less water, therefore, if we have a producer who is having production problems or problems maintaining irrigation, with Agua4D we can make that additional 25% of water available and at the same time better manage the salt problem that exists.”

“In addition to delivering the technology, we provide a comprehensive service. Once the technology is installed, we work together with the client to monitor, collect data, and help them manage and make decisions. On the other hand, we help them impact sustainability issues, the sustainable development of their company, their production.”

Meanwhile, Cristian Estrada, director of R&D+I at Eficagua, will explain about “Microrrhizae and water efficiency”.

“I will talk about how mycorrhizae contribute to water efficiency in agriculture. Mycorrhizae are a beneficial association between fungi and roots and one of the main benefits applied to an agricultural system is that the root can access more water and be more tolerant to periods of drought. Within all the topics that can contribute to advancing water efficiency, it seems to me that this is one of the only topics that will be discussed that day, which has to do with biological inputs or bioinputs in terms of water efficiency.”

“Mycorrhizae are a phenomenon that occurs in nature and what we are doing by applying them to agricultural activity is taking advantage of all the biological benefits that have been discovered in nature to implement them in an agricultural system.”

First event on water in Chilean agriculture

On the importance of the meeting, Daniel Cabrera said: “People cannot miss this event because technologies have been changing in the last 5 or 10 years in response to the water shortages we have in the country and the world. So it is extremely important to see what is being done in Chile and the world to maintain water security in the fields, meaning that the fields can obtain the water they need for irrigation with the help of technology.”

On the same sidewalk, Cristian Estrada stated: “I think this event is important because it highlights the value of water, which is very relevant for the agricultural sector and is what is most repeated in the management of an orchard during the year, since what is done most during the year is watering. We are going through a drought, which has been accumulating in the central area for more than 10 years, so it is a very good time to understand how we can contribute to better water management.”

“People should attend because they will see different perspectives that will converge around water management in agricultural activity,” the specialist emphasized.

Felipe Villarino indicated that “For us, it is extremely important to have events like the Agricultural Water Summit, which will be a showcase for producers and the entire agricultural ecosystem on issues of efficient water use, trends, etc. I think it is a very good opportunity to unify all these issues.”

“You can't miss it because it will be an opportunity to discuss and learn about trends regarding the efficient use of water.”

The indicated exhibitions have limited spaces and require prior registration. If you would like to attend one of them, please contact Natalia Castillo at [email protected]. Visit our website https://www.agwatersummit.com/
