In order to meet the needs of farmers in the Maule region, the Foundation for Agrarian Innovation (FIA), the Innovation Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture, organized a Technical Conference on Territorial Innovation called “Agronomic management of soil and crops after floods.” This is a space for talks given by experts from the University of Chile that will take place next Friday, August 25, in the Jorge Ossandón auditorium, at the University of Talca Campus Curicó, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The objective of the workshop is to share knowledge and information regarding the productive damages and negative impacts of rains and floods in the agricultural sector of the affected areas. It also seeks to provide technical recommendations and agronomic management measures for the recovery of soils and crops flooded by river floods, and for the future prevention of associated diseases.
The discussion is aimed at PRODESAL and SAT professionals who advise small farmers in the affected areas and mainly at small farmers, whether or not they are INDAP users. The Seremi of Agriculture, Ana Muñoz, called for participation: “We invite everyone to attend, since the work of productive rehabilitation has a component of promotion but also of training and technical guidance.”, he added.
The discussion is expected to cover various topics that are important to producers, such as: Effects and damage to soils and crops after flooding, Productive recovery of agricultural land, Phytosanitary impact on fruit trees and vineyards after flooding.
Robert Giovanetti, FIA Regional Representative in the Maule region indicated that “From the Foundation for Agrarian Innovation we have developed different innovation talks throughout Chile, now this Friday the 25th we are going to develop an activity where we will talk about agronomic management, soil management and also post-flood crops, something so relevant these days in the region,” specifying that the meeting will take place at the aforementioned educational institution on the road to Los Niches.
