The Prime Cherry Seminar has become an unmissable event for the prime cherry industry, hoping to bring together for its second version at “Ovalle Casino & Resort” producers, academics, companies, experts, professionals and enthusiasts of the cherry industry to share knowledge, experiences and current trends in this field with the aim of strengthening and promoting the sustainable growth of the industry.
"On the road to consolidation" is the motto for this year, the focus of which will be on the factors that can help consolidate the premium cherries of the southern hemisphere, taking advantage of the competitive advantages that they have. The presentations will be aimed at technically analyzing the evolution of the Ovalle area, which has steadily covered the commercial window for premium cherries.
Along these lines, technological solutions to climate variability will also be presented, with the understanding that it is necessary to know the alternatives that can help producers guarantee their production under the advantages that the northern zone offers in particular.
Another aspect that will be emphasized in this 2023 version is the post-harvest and the destination of the prime cherries. For the first time, questions will be answered about how to work with the fruit from harvest to arrival at the markets, as well as the specific characteristics of the importing markets in the weeks that start the southern hemisphere season.
It is worth noting that the programme will include a full day of field activities, where management strategies to deal with the setting period will be available, as well as the experience of producers touring cherry plantations that are in production.
The event is organized by Susttex Consultores, a company that, given the great interest from the participants of the first version of the international seminar in Chile, held this second version in the Coquimbo region, as this is the area where the country's premium cherries are grown, thus being a relevant point of reference for producers of the sector both in Chile and in other latitudes.
