During the recent cherry season, Chile exported more than 415 thousand tons of cherries, equivalent to 85 million 5-kilo boxes, showing a growth of 17 percent compared to the 2021-22 campaign.
According to data recently published in iQonsulting's 2023 Cherry Yearbook, 43 percent of the total cherry exports were produced in Maule, a region that once again ranked first in terms of cherry exports; 177,763 tons were exported from this area of the country, equivalent to 35.5 million boxes (9% more than in the previous season).
In second place is O'Higgins, which showed a growth of 26 percent compared to the 2021-22 campaign, reaching 167,295 tons, equivalent to 40 percent of the total shipped to the world (33.5 million boxes).
Maule and O'Higgins together represent 83 percent of the total cherries exported by Chile during the 2022-23 campaign.
They are followed, much further behind, by the Metropolitan regions (32,385 tons), Ñuble (13,072 tons) and Araucanía (10,669 tons), and other regions (14,215 tons).
