"The National Irrigation Commission has allocated more than $700 million to support women irrigators throughout the country, by subsidizing various irrigation projects that will allow them to better cope with the water shortage resulting from the effects of climate change," said the Executive Secretary of the CNR, Wilson Ureta.
In the current scenario of water and climate crisis, The Executive Secretary of the National Irrigation Commission (CNR), Wilson Ureta, invited female farmers from all over the country to present their projects to the new National Competition for Women of the Irrigation Law, which includes bonuses of more than $775 million.
“I want to make a very special call to the women, irrigators of the different regions, to HE report and present their projects to the National Women's Competition, called N°33-2022, which considers special conditions for the application of small agricultural producers, with the aim of guaranteeing a space where they can compete on equal terms, understanding that as a Government we must contribute to reducing the barriers they face every day with a gender perspective”, the Executive Secretary stressed.
Wilson Ureta added that “There are more than $700 million so that more farmers in our country can obtain the necessary resources to build their irrigation works and better face this water crisis and the effects of climate change.”
“Applications to the National Competition for Women Small Agricultural Producers (INDAP), Potential Women Small Agricultural Producers (INDAP), Women Small Agricultural Producers (Non-INDAP) and Women Small Agricultural Producers are open to the public.”
Among the special conditions, the head (s) of the Irrigation Promotion Department of the CNR, Tania Fernández, highlighted that “One of the characteristics of this call is that married women farmers in a community property regime will be able to apply with simple authorization from the spouse who owns the property and/or the waters, which is one of the most important access barriers that women farmers face when submitting their projects to the Promotion Law. With this we hope to facilitate access to these resources that are essential to improve their quality of life.”
Projects must be submitted by an accredited consulting professional through the electronic application platform of the Irrigation Law.
The bases are available HERE
The competition will open its applications on July 12, 2022 and will close its applications on August 3, 2022 until 11:59 p.m.
