Since then, Tavan has sought to contribute to sustainable agriculture, using biotechnology to improve fruit species of high economic value for the country, including the cherry tree.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAt Tavan we take the constant development of our products very seriously, always innovating to find the best sustainable solutions and taking into account the protection of ecosystems,\u201d says Francisco Arizt\u00eda, general manager of Tavan Chile-Peru.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thus, Tavan has a wide range of scientifically validated organic treatments, focused on various crops, including cherry trees.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The positioning of this crop in recent years poses increasingly challenging scenarios, where innovation and new technologies are key. At Tavan they have wanted to make a difference through biotechnology applied to agriculture, with effective solutions that make this crop a more sustainable business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bacterial cancer<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We know that one of the most problematic diseases for cherry trees is bacterial cancer, caused by the bacteria P<em>pseudomonas syringae<\/em>Currently, the most commonly used method to control this disease is copper, which is effective, but has side effects because it is a method that alters the balance of crops.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tavan created WERT\u00ae, a treatment that can replace the use of copper up to 100% for comprehensive management of this disease.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WERT\u00ae is a technology based on the application of biotoxins extracted from more than six different microorganisms that are stabilized in a biological laboratory. \u201cAs they are not living organisms, they do not need favorable conditions to develop in the plant, that is, they come ready to act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<strong>\u201cYear after year, we have seen how the trees are healthier, with greener foliage and that they reach autumn much less stressed,\u201d says Antonio Bunster, a producer at the Porvenir Agricultural Society.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A considerable advantage is that it requires fewer applications than coppers. While a conventional treatment with coppers can exceed 10 applications in autumn-winter, the Tavan treatment considers 2 to 3 applications of WERT\u00ae in this period, which are complemented with 1 to 2 of BACTOFUS\u00ae plus V-6\u00ae in spring.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hern\u00e1n Caroca, from Agr\u00edcola Tundra located in San Fernando, highlights that thanks to the treatment \u201chealth has always been improving. Now we use the Tavan treatment in all the cherry orchards.
