The success of this work is directly related to the time of year in which it is carried out and under what conditions and objectives it is executed.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Actualmente y m\u00e1s a\u00fan tras la \u00faltima temporada surge la pregunta \u00bfkilos o calidad? La respuesta es ambas, puesto que para alcanzar el potencial y rentabilidad del proyecto es necesario obtener la mayor cantidad de kilos por hect\u00e1rea y de la mejor calidad, incluido el calibre, ya que al proyectarse un negocio m\u00e1s ajustado en los ingresos, debemos ser cautos con los costos asociados a la producci\u00f3n y por consiguiente, se traduce que entre m\u00e1s kilos se producen los costos fijos por kilo disminuyen; y el encontrar el equilibrio entre estos factores para cada realidad particular, es tarea dif\u00edcil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En el caso del cerezo, dentro de los par\u00e1metros de calidad m\u00e1s reconocidos por los consumidores se encuentra el tama\u00f1o, firmeza y condici\u00f3n del fruto, por lo tanto, el objetivo debe ser lograr el m\u00e1ximo rendimiento en kilos que mantenga la m\u00e1xima calidad de la fruta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To achieve the maximum productive potential in an orchard, it is extremely important to build a history in each productive unit. To do this, there are different types of analysis that generate information of great importance for decision-making at the orchard level.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the minimum analyses that must be considered for a good pruning and load regulation strategy are:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An\u00e1lisis de fertilidad de yemas: Corresponde en t\u00e9rminos num\u00e9ricos o cuantitativos a la cantidad de yemas florales que tienen los centros frutales, principalmente dardos, y la cantidad de primordios de flor sanos y da\u00f1ados que tienen cada una de las yemas florales, para revelar la cantidad de flores o de potencial de floraci\u00f3n que tiene estas estructuras.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conteo de centros frutales: Cuantificaci\u00f3n principalmente de dardos que permite conocer el potencial productivo. Idealmente, se debe definir nuestras unidades de conteo, bajo los criterios de uniformidad y sanidad de la planta. Adem\u00e1s, es recomendable marcar cada una de las plantas, a modo de crear estaciones de monitoreo las cuales se deben seguir a lo largo de la temporada.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An\u00e1lisis de reservas: Hasta ahora no existen un consenso de establecer un protocolo y par\u00e1metros de rangos adecuados para los an\u00e1lisis de reservas en centros frutales para generar informaci\u00f3n cerrera para tomar decisiones.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>EL equipo Avium lleva siguiendo hace varias temporadas los an\u00e1lisis de reservas nitrogenadas (Arginina, N total y prote\u00edna total) y carbonadas (Almid\u00f3n), considerando que sus resultados tambi\u00e9n dependen de la posici\u00f3n del centro frutal en el \u00e1rbol, y de la&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>edad de secci\u00f3n de rama de donde se recolecten. Es importante poder llegar a construir par\u00e1metros comparativos en los a\u00f1os en cada situaci\u00f3n productiva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each of these analyses is of great relevance in the construction of the productive potential expressed in kilos. In many fruit species, including cherry, knowing the magnitude of this value expressed in kilos per hectare and at the same time knowing the distribution of sizes is of enormous interest to the commercial area, but from the technical point of view its correct estimation is very complex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Existen productores que han logrado construir consistentemente este n\u00famero, y coincide con que cuentan con un buen manejo de la informaci\u00f3n de campo y que han sabido identificar perfectamente la distribuci\u00f3n de calidad de las plantas, incluso realizando manejos diferenciados para cada uno de ellos. En este punto, cobra relevancia el uso de nuevas herramientas tecnol\u00f3gicas que ayudan a medir par\u00e1metros dentro del huerto que ayudan a discriminar tipos de plantas y zonas m\u00e1s complejas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A lo largo de las temporadas, Avium, ha identificado la necesidad de poder oficializar y recordar conceptos de manejo sobre todo en las labores de poda y regulaci\u00f3n de carga. Las pautas e instrucciones generadas en distintas situaciones muchas veces carecen de precisiones t\u00e9cnicas al momento de dar pautas o en simples an\u00e1lisis de campo. A continuaci\u00f3n, un peque\u00f1o resumen, con definiciones personales, con ejemplos de los procedimientos m\u00e1s recurrentes en los manejos de las distintas estructuras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Renovaci\u00f3n de ramas<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>El concepto de renovaci\u00f3n de ramas tiene como objetivo principal, renovar (o rehacer) la estructura \u201cprimaria\u201d o \u201cpermanente\u201d de la planta. Por lo general, es material que durante la temporada genera un exceso de sombra y que ya no es protagonista en la producci\u00f3n por lo carente de centros frutales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Algunas veces estas estructuras son j\u00f3venes, \u201cchupones\u201d con exceso de vigor, de di\u00e1metro similar al eje de la planta, que no ser\u00e1n aprovechados para una futura rama productiva a menos que sean intervenidas (Fotos 1 y 2).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"770\" height=\"287\" src=\"https:\/\/smartcherry.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/poda1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-46315\" srcset=\"https:\/\/smartcherry.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/poda1.png 770w, https:\/\/smartcherry.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/poda1-300x112.png 300w, https:\/\/smartcherry.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/poda1-768x286.png 768w, https:\/\/smartcherry.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/poda1-18x7.png 18w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 770px) 100vw, 770px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Y en otras ocasiones son estructuras de mayor edad, pero que con el paso del tiempo han engrosado a tal magnitud que comienzan a competir con el eje principal o con el resto de las ramas, formando un desequilibrio en la planta. La idea siempre es poder \u201celiminar\u201d este tipo de material dejando un \u201ctaco\u201d de base para poder alojar desde ah\u00ed las futuras renovaciones y no perder ese punto en la estructura primaria de la planta (Fotos 3 y 4).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Es importante tener claro que el concepto propiamente tal no es \u201celiminar\u201d sino m\u00e1s bien, el concepto va por el lado de multiplicar el punto de crecimiento, permitiendo obtener ramas m\u00e1s equilibradas y que entran m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido en etapa productiva (Foto 5). Dado que se est\u00e1 realizando cortes en material \u201cgrueso\u201d la idea es siempre cubrirlos con alg\u00fan tipo de pasta o pintura post poda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"683\" height=\"796\" src=\"https:\/\/smartcherry.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/poda2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-46316\" srcset=\"https:\/\/smartcherry.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/poda2.png 683w, https:\/\/smartcherry.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/poda2-257x300.png 257w, https:\/\/smartcherry.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/poda2-10x12.png 10w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. Despunte de ramas<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The concept of pruning is defined as the intervention of wood for one year in winter, or less than one year in the case that it is carried out in green in spring\/summer (Photo 6 and 7).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of pruning is to promote vegetative development just behind the section in which the cut is made, seeking to give the wood involved a \u201csecond wind\u201d. In this way, vegetative development is promoted and premature formation of darts (premature browning) is avoided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hay que discriminar esta labor entre situaciones de portainjertos enanizantes y en casos de portainjertos vigorosos. En el primer caso, esta labor es necesaria para asegurar \u201cvigor\u201d dado a que promueve el desarrollo vegetativo, pero en el caso de portainjertos vigorosos, esta labor podr\u00eda ser un error, ya que el corte act\u00faa como se\u00f1al de juvenilidad lo que perjudica negativamente la formaci\u00f3n de madera frutal. A\u00fan se escucha que esta intervenci\u00f3n de ramillas de un a\u00f1o promueve el \u201cendardamiento\u201d, pero ese concepto es errado ya que promueve exactamente lo contrario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In certain fruit species, early pruning is a very common practice in tree formation and later pruning induces the formation of shoots only when there is an imbalance between vegetative and reproductive growth, generating an increase in fruiting (Gil, 2012). Recorte o rebaje de ramas<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The concept of pruning or thinning branches involves intervening in branches that have fruit structures (darts) in sections that are two years old or older. The main objective of this is to adjust the load early in order to be able to do without fruit centers when they are in excess, a situation that is very characteristic of weak combinations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This intervention is carried out just after a new year&#039;s ring or in a section that generates self-support of branches (Photos 9 and 10). The intensity with which this work is carried out depends directly on the length of the branch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"780\" height=\"248\" src=\"https:\/\/smartcherry.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/poda4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-46320\" srcset=\"https:\/\/smartcherry.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/poda4.png 780w, https:\/\/smartcherry.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/poda4-300x95.png 300w, https:\/\/smartcherry.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/poda4-768x244.png 768w, https:\/\/smartcherry.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/poda4-18x6.png 18w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 780px) 100vw, 780px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>El concepto de autosoporte de ramas considera que la fruta que contenga esa secci\u00f3n de ramas es soportada por su estructura, asegurando el desarrollo vegetativo y generando un resultado m\u00e1s regular en t\u00e9rminos de equilibrio en el tama\u00f1o de frutos y composici\u00f3n de az\u00facares y nutrientes (Fotos 11 y 12).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lo anterior, no debe confundirse con podas vigorizantes, ya que, al rebajar a secciones m\u00e1s cortas, tambi\u00e9n se eliminan potenciales hojas. Ante un caso de buscar vigorizar o mejorar la relaci\u00f3n hoja\/fruto, luego de podar se debe hacer un raleo de yemas para regular la carga tempranamente, con este manejo se ha logrado cumplir el objetivo descrito.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"771\" height=\"246\" src=\"https:\/\/smartcherry.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/poda5.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-46324\" srcset=\"https:\/\/smartcherry.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/poda5.png 771w, https:\/\/smartcherry.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/poda5-300x96.png 300w, https:\/\/smartcherry.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/poda5-768x245.png 768w, https:\/\/smartcherry.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/poda5-18x6.png 18w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 771px) 100vw, 771px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4. Raleo o extinci\u00f3n de yemas<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dentro del concepto de \u201craleo\u201d de estructuras, el raleo o extinci\u00f3n de yemas, tambi\u00e9n llamado \u201craleo chino\u201d (Fotos 13, 13 y 14) es por lejos el m\u00e1s efectivo al compararlo con raleo de flores y frutos ya cuajados.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The removal of flower buds is a strategy that not only aims to reduce the fruit load, but is also the best strategy to ensure the vegetative balance of the plant and even the safest model to recover stressed plants and in a vicious circle of permanent weakness.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The intensity of bud thinning in terms of bud removal will depend on the results of the bud fertility analysis as the objective tool that allows an accurate decision to be made. Raleo o extinci\u00f3n de dardos<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En otras especies frutales, la eliminaci\u00f3n o extinci\u00f3n de centros frutales es una pr\u00e1ctica com\u00fan y exitosa. Sin embargo, en cerezos la extinci\u00f3n de dardos pasa a ser un error garrafal al momento de definir las estrategias de raleo o regulaci\u00f3n de carga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The dart itself is the fruit structure that is renewable year after year, since it contains at least and commonly one vegetative bud that is responsible for generating leaves, and in its axils it houses new flower buds every season (Photos 15, 16 and 17).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Es por esta raz\u00f3n que la eliminaci\u00f3n de un dardo es la p\u00e9rdida irreversible de un punto de fructificaci\u00f3n. Las 2 situaciones donde la extinci\u00f3n de dardos se justifica podr\u00eda ser aquella en una secci\u00f3n de anillo de cambio de a\u00f1o a cambio de realizar un recorte o rebaje en esta zona. Y otra situaci\u00f3n donde se podr\u00eda realizar es en la formaci\u00f3n de un sistema de conducci\u00f3n tipo UFO, al eliminar dardos por la parte debajo del eje central durante su correcta formaci\u00f3n inicial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"753\" height=\"182\" healthy orchard, with all its programs up to date and of course the decision must be in line with the productive objectives
