Recientemente, la Asociaci\u00f3n Internacional de \u00c1rboles Frutales visit\u00f3 las operaciones de Dutoit Agri y observ\u00f3 un huerto de cuarta hoja compuesto por Lapins y Royal Helen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Piet Bosman, asesor t\u00e9cnico de Dutoit, subraya la necesidad de que la fruta tenga firmeza para env\u00edos m\u00e1s largos, ya que las cerezas sudafricanas se destinan principalmente a los mercados de exportaci\u00f3n de Europa y Oriente Medio. Ahora, el enfoque se ha centrado en mantener el equilibrio para una salud \u00f3ptima de los \u00e1rboles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los huertos de Dutoit emplean portainjertos MaxMa 16, con m\u00e1s de 1667 \u00e1rboles por hect\u00e1rea, en un sistema de conducci\u00f3n central de tipo \u00abtabletop\u00bb, que se distingue por sus hileras independientes de ramas frutales. Las crucetas refuerzan la integridad estructural, facilitando una cosecha eficiente. Los rendimientos preliminares indican un potencial de 16 a 18 toneladas m\u00e9tricas por hect\u00e1rea para cultivares tard\u00edos una vez alcanzada la madurez completa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La eficiencia laboral constituye una ventaja adicional de este sistema, ya que las ramas escalonadas se pueden cosechar desde el suelo o desde plataformas. La simplicidad del m\u00e9todo de conducci\u00f3n facilita el proceso de regeneraci\u00f3n estructural y fruct\u00edfera de las ramas, como explic\u00f3 Gys du Toit, director de producci\u00f3n, haciendo hincapi\u00e9 en las t\u00e9cnicas de renovaci\u00f3n de ramas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Greg Lang, de la Universidad Estatal de Michigan, destaca la adaptabilidad del sistema y se\u00f1ala: <em>\u00abEl innovador sistema incorpora una renovaci\u00f3n constante\u00bb<\/em>, lo que proporciona una distribuci\u00f3n de luz ventajosa y un potencial de rendimiento mejorado mediante la configuraci\u00f3n estrat\u00e9gica de los espolones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La industria sudafricana de la cereza, compuesta por m\u00e1s de 30 productores en m\u00e1s de 700 hect\u00e1reas, ha duplicado su superficie cultivada en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os. Si bien Hortgro carece de representaci\u00f3n formal, las investigaciones colaborativas se centran en optimizar las variedades de cereza para los diversos climas del pa\u00eds. Dutoit explora principalmente aquellas de fr\u00edo bajo a medio, en particular la serie Royal de Zaiger Genetics, desarrollando as\u00ed su potencial para una mayor
