Marcela Ruiz, Gerente T\u00e9cnico Comercial de Tessenderlo Kerley en Chile, destac\u00f3 las estrategias implementadas para mejorar la firmeza y calidad de la fruta mediante el uso de calcio en aplicaciones postcosecha, logrando resultados sobresalientes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tessenderlo Kerley ha validado una innovadora estrategia para optimizar el uso del calcio, con su producto CaTs\u00ae\ufe0f (Tiosulfato de Calcio) en la postcosecha, con resultados notables en la firmeza y calidad de diversas especies frutales. Marcela Ruiz, Gerente T\u00e9cnico Comercial para la compa\u00f1\u00eda en Chile, explic\u00f3 c\u00f3mo este trabajo ha demostrado ser una herramienta clave para los productores, especialmente en frutales como almendros y cerezos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHace unos seis a\u00f1os comenzamos con aplicaciones de postcosecha de CaTs\u00ae\ufe0f (Tiosulfato de Calcio) en almendros para reducir el estr\u00e9s por salinidad en los \u00e1rboles. Al siguiente ciclo, la floraci\u00f3n fue completamente diferente y vimos una mejora significativa en los par\u00e1metros productivos, como la cantidad, peso y calibre de las almendras\u201d, relat\u00f3 Ruiz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Este hallazgo inicial motiv\u00f3 a la compa\u00f1\u00eda a extender las aplicaciones a cerezos, donde los resultados tambi\u00e9n fueron prometedores. \u201cObservamos que las aplicaciones postcosecha, impactan positivamente en el contenido de calcio ligado en la fruta a la siguiente temporada. Es una alternativa eficiente y m\u00e1s econ\u00f3mica para los productores, quienes cuentan con mayor tiempo para realizarla, adem\u00e1s de estar aprovechando todos los beneficios de los tiosulfatos\u201d, destac\u00f3 la Gerente T\u00e9cnico Comercial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asimismo, Marcela Ruiz explic\u00f3 adem\u00e1s, que durante la etapa cr\u00edtica de fructificaci\u00f3n, los frutos de carozo requieren calcio, pero su absorci\u00f3n desde el suelo es limitada debido a la falta de corriente evapotranspiratoria. \u201cEn esta fase, el calcio almacenado en la madera durante la postcosecha se moviliza hacia las estructuras de la planta en primavera, un proceso que hemos monitoreado en colaboraci\u00f3n con destacados investigadores como Luis Valenzuela y otros referentes del sector\u201d, coment\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Actualmente, Tessenderlo Kerley contin\u00faa profundizando este trabajo mediante seguimientos detallados de calcio en distintas estructuras de las plantas y an\u00e1lisis de los resultados en fruta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTenemos la certeza de que estas aplicaciones en postcosecha marcan un antes y un despu\u00e9s en la nutrici\u00f3n de los frutales, y seguiremos trabajando para entregar a los productores herramientas eficientes y rentables\u201d, concluy\u00f3 Ruiz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
