As we mentioned in the report from two weeks ago, the climatic or meteorological autumn began on March 1, since this facilitates the statistical treatment of meteorological and climatic data: average temperatures, amount of seasonal precipitation, climatic normals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The astronomical autumn of the southern hemisphere (equinox) began at 18:24 h (UTC-3) on March 20, 2023, and not every year it begins on the same day, nor at the same time, so if meteorologists worked with those dates, the measurement would be quite complex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The autumn equinox has occurred and during these days cold air masses have also arrived, causing significant cooling in the southern part of the country, from Los Angeles to Osorno, which is significant mainly in agricultural areas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

SOUTH ZONE<\/strong>:The common denominator throughout the southern part of the country will be morning fog in some communities and even potential light radiative frosts in agricultural areas, mainly from Osorno to the south, hoping that the permanence of high cold pressure and a vertically dry atmosphere will produce radiative cooling conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We expect the potential entry of a frontal system at the end of the month, which will increase the potential for rainfall, which may be in the form of showers and light to moderate rain. The current probability is 60% between March 28 and 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CENTRAL ZONE<\/strong>:In general, a large part of the country will be under an anticyclonic regime, and although we also expect significant radiative cooling, the potential for radiative frost is still zero, since maximum temperatures remain high enough to allow cooling capable of reaching the freezing point during the mornings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Extreme minimum temperatures are expected to be between 4\u00b0 and 6\u00b0C in agricultural areas, and higher in populated areas. Although minimum temperatures will be very cold, maximum temperatures will remain within the range of 31\u00b0 to 33\u00b0C. In coastal areas, temperatures will remain regulated by the marine layer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the RM, the maximum temperatures will increase significantly, with values between 33\u00b0 and 36\u00b0C, including the Valpar\u00edso region near Santiago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NORTHERN ZONE (Coquimbo \u2013 Atacama)<\/strong>: The anticyclonic regime will be extended to this area, so the common denominator will continue to be clear skies, with highs between 29\u00b0 and 32\u00b0C and lows of 8\u00b0 to 11\u00b0C. There will be no precipitation on the coasts, valleys or mountain ranges. The marine layer will dominate during the early mornings and dawns from La Serena to the far north.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The previous general forecast was made by the company GlobalMet, who have the best tool for farmers, providing their clients with a personal meteorologist service, who knows their field and provides forecasts up to 30 days in advance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GlobalMet's job is to provide producers with accurate information on the variables that will be present at their specific point so that they can have better planning and decision making in the field, for example, during frost season it can provide information on what day it will freeze and how long it will last, thus they can better use their frost control system and apply climate stress products; all of this will be directly reflected in the producer's pocket. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remember that the forecast for this week and the next, speaks of the presence of possible radiative frosts in agricultural areas of Osorno to the south, hoping that the permanence of a high cold pressure and the vertically dry atmosphere produce conditions of radiative cooling; for these cases, prepare yourself with AGROS-3 systemic cellular penetrant, with anti-freeze effect, mobilizes nutrients and is quickly absorbed by active plant tissues, becoming part of the sap flow reaching all ends of the plant. It mobilizes calcium, boron and other salts, avoiding precipitation.
